Hello! My name is Alex (@alexmcrobs). I am a Canadian Expatriate living in Abu Dhabi. I work full time as a grade one teacher, but my passion outside of my work is helping others find balance, purpose and intention through practicing yoga and life coaching. I am a 500-hour Registered Yoga Teacher with the Yoga Alliance and a Certified Life Coach with Life Purpose Institute, which is a designated International Coaching Federation school. I am also a certified barre instructor and a spinning instructor.
My journey in this work began over ten years ago, when I started practicing yoga regularly as a university student. I was immediately drawn to the way my regular yoga practice helped me heal and move forward. In 2014 I completed my first Yoga Teacher Training. My goal is to guide you through yoga classes that are accessible yet challenging, work towards a postural goal, and leave you feeling grounded. I also hold certifications in Kids Yoga, Prenatal and Postnatal Yoga, Workshop Design, Trauma-Informed Yoga, Adjustments and Assists.
In 2020, in response to the Coronavirus Pandemic, I launched "The Mindful Life Practice" (@themindfullifepractice) which is a virtual yoga community of individuals practicing yoga together all over the world from the comfort of our own homes. What sets us apart is that we are not just about movement and mindfulness, we are about connection and community. In just four short weeks, The MLP C"om"unity has grown to over 250 members from Ecuador to Barcelona to Lebanon to Vietnam to Australia, and everywhere in between with guest teachers joining us from all over the world.
In my free time, I play the guitar and spend time with my cat, Princess. If Princess is awake during yoga, she sometimes enjoys assisting my classes by jumping on the computer, weaving in and out and under me while teaching yoga flows, and also walking back and forth across the yoga mat (sorry in advance! Once you meet her you'll love her).

"Just thought I'd say a big congratulations for all you've accomplished this month. I remember seeing you in Kat's yoga classes, and from time to time you'd take over. You have such a natural way of sensing the room and helping others feel at ease. Your openness also helps others be vulnerable, and trust you. You're a phenomenal teacher, and I'm so happy to see how you've put together the MLP in a month, while juggling so many other things. Hats off to you, Alex. You repeated so many times, while in difficult poses, that we can do hard things. And seeing you put that into practice is so inspiring. Whether it's sobriety, starting up a business, checking in with students - ALL the things. Congratulations, Alex."
"As you know, Alex, rarely, I am at a loss for words - I just can't put into sentences what a fantastic teacher you are, so I will just list some key words that apply:
and more...of course it was my first time, but you came across as if it was the absolute full focal point of the present moment - which it was - but just so natural, so encouraging, so giving."
I was never one to be interested in life coaching. In fact, the very idea of it in many ways made me uncomfortable. However, my opinion has entirely changed working with Alex McRobs from The Mindful Life Practice. Over the past eight weeks, we have spent sessions deeply exploring and aligning my personal and professional goals and I am so much better off because of it! Through this, I was able to work out what had been keeping me stuck and confused for so long, and for that I am forever grateful. Thank you doesn't even do it justice, Alex.
