The Mindful Life Practice and Sober Curious Yoga
are so excited to bring you FREE Sober Curious Community Sessions every day.

The MLPC and Sober Curious Yoga is so excited to bring free Sober Curious Community sessions, as our way to give back. These sessions are free, drop-in sessions for anyone that is sober curious - either already committed to a sober lifestyle, or considering it, or working towards it. You are welcome where ever you are on your journey. These sessions are hosted by individuals who are already certified Sober Curious Yoga Teachers or are in training to become Sober Curious Yoga Teachers with Alex & The Mindful Life Practice. These sessions will include a check-in, a meditation, (maybe some journalling) and a discussion.

"I found Alex McRobs and Sober Curious Yoga after I had gotten sober. I'd gone down a rabbit hole of Instagram following yoga and sober hashtags when suddenly I saw a comment Alex had made on a post. I messaged her and joined Sober Curious Yoga and immediately fell in love with the community.

I found Alex via a Facebook group, or she found me I can’t remember! Anyway the stars aligned and I started to think about trying yoga. I felt a great desire to try something new while also quitting alcohol. So from June 2020, I’ve done yoga almost every single day I think and on the odd day I’ve not done it I’ve dreamed about it! Alex had been so supportive to me throughout, always there always available as a coach, a friend and a role model who gets what this thing called “life” is all about. Stopping drinking alcohol has been life changing, but being a yogi and training and learning with Alex is right up there with one of the very best things to happen to me :-)))

Alex - a Canadian in Abu Dhabi, UAE

Alex is a 500 Hour Registered Yoga Teacher, Certified Life Coach, entrepreneur, podcaster, and Ontario Certified Teacher. Since a very young age, she was drawn to yoga.

She completed her first 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training in 2014 at Yandara Yoga Institute in Mexico. In 2017, she completed her 300 Hour Yoga Teacher Training at Zuna Yoga in Bali. Since then, she has taught yoga internationally, in Canada, Kuwait, and Abu Dhabi.

Alex has participated in several additional trainings, including Yoga Workshop Design for Teachers with Rolf Gates, Prenatal and Postnatal Yoga, Yoga for Kids and Trauma Informed Yoga. In 2020, Alex founded the Mindful Life Practice Community and Sober Curious Yoga, an online yoga community with participants from all over the world.

Alex is an authorized trainer with Yoga Teacher Central and leads 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Trainings. She also created Sober Curious Yoga School, which helps individuals use yoga, coaching, meditation and community to create a life they don’t need alcohol to escape from. In her free time Alex spends time with her cat Princess, and writing.

Leigh Saulnier in Ohio, United States

Hello! My name is Leigh. I met Alex and started practicing daily yoga with the MLPC during the Coronavirus pandemic. I had practiced off and on for many years before, but I got more inspired to practice daily when I had to stop running due to arthritis. I have competed in the Ironman triathlon as well as many marathons in the past and felt a big void in my life when I was no longer marathon training!

I recently retired from my job as an occupational therapist working with children with sensory processing disorders. I am currently doing the 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training with the MLPC and hope to be able to start teaching yoga in the fall of 2021. I enjoy all types of yoga practice and have especially enjoyed learning pranayama and meditation practices recently.

I am alcohol free and have greatly benefitted from participating in the sober circles and connecting with the other folks in the community. It gives me joy to build friendships with people all over the world. My interests are ever changing but right now I love knitting, gardening, cooking (and eating) vegan food, and reading books about antiracism and the environmental movement. I am trying to build a creative practice and love to dance!

Hayley Fry - from the UK, currently in Thailand

Hey my name is Hayley. I met Alex during the Coronavirus pandemic and started practiced yoga with the MLPC. I really enjoy the yoga and practicing with the community.
This was particularly important at this time. It such a great community to connect with. That is what I love so much about the MLPC is the really sense of a supportive and caring community. 

I have just started my sober curious yoga teacher training with Alex at the MLPC. This also has module one of the 200 hour yoga teacher training course. My plan is contain with my yoga teacher training and qualify as a yoga instructor with the MLPC.

I have been alcohol free since March 2020 so a little over a year now. I feel that community support has been keep to my soberity. I now really want to help other who are sober and sober curious as I really believe it the best decision I ever made. Been alcohol free allows you to grow, develop and achieve your goals.
