Yoga

Alexandra first discovered yoga in her late teens, when she began practicing as a way to support her mental health.

Like many Western practitioners, her introduction to yoga happened primarily in studios where the emphasis was on asana — the physical postures. She loved the practice, but sensed early on that there was something much deeper beneath the poses.

She began teaching yoga in 2014 and has since taught in yoga studios, gyms, retreats and teacher trainings around the world.

Over the years, her own understanding of yoga has continued to evolve. What began as a physical practice gradually became a much wider path of self-study, meditation, philosophy, devotion and remembering.

Sobriety

In 2019, Alexandra stopped drinking alcohol.

What began as a decision to take a break from drinking became one of the most transformative journeys of her life. Sobriety gave her the space to deepen her relationship with yoga and ultimately changed the direction of her work.

During this time, she wrote her first book, Sober Yoga Girl, launched the Sober Yoga Girl Podcast, and began supporting women around the world on their own alcohol-free journeys.

She created the 60 Day Sober Girls Yoga Challenge and built an international online community combining yoga, meditation, personal growth and sobriety. What began online eventually expanded into in-person retreats and experiences around the world.

Sobriety remains an important part of Alexandra's work today — not simply as the absence of alcohol, but as a practice of becoming more present, awake and aligned with who we truly are.

Teacher Trainings

As her online yoga community grew, Alexandra began training yoga teachers.

She now leads both 200-hour yoga teacher trainings and advanced teacher trainings, online and in Bali at her home yoga shala.

Her approach to teacher training goes beyond learning how to sequence or teach poses. Alexandra is passionate about helping teachers understand the wider tradition of yoga — including philosophy, meditation, mantra, self-inquiry and the responsibility that comes with sharing these teachings.

Her trainings are designed for students who want to move beyond simply doing yoga and begin deeply studying and living it.

Philosophy

As Alexandra's own practice deepened, she became increasingly drawn to yoga philosophy — particularly Patanjali's Yoga Sutras.

She felt that many of the teachings that had become most meaningful in her own life were largely absent from modern yoga spaces.

In 2022, she began leading in-depth online Yoga Sutra studies, exploring the text slowly over six months rather than reducing the teachings to a single workshop or lecture.

Philosophy and meditation have since become central to both her personal practice and her teaching.

Alexandra is particularly interested in making ancient yogic philosophy accessible and relevant to modern life — not simply as something to intellectually understand, but something to practice, experience and live.

She has been the philosophy teacher for several yoga schools in Bali for their 200 and 300 Hour teacher trainings, including Sky Yoga and Radiantly Alive.

Bhakti

Bhakti is the yoga of devotion — and for Alexandra, it became another doorway into the heart of yoga.

She was first introduced to bhakti and kirtan during her yoga teacher training in 2014, but the practice returned to her much more deeply years later.

In 2025, she bought her first harmonium and began leading kirtan. What started as a personal devotional practice quickly became an important part of her work.

Today, Alexandra leads kirtans in Bali and internationally, weaving mantra, music, storytelling and yogic philosophy together in communal practice.

For her, kirtan is about remembering - remembering who we are beneath all the noise, and experiencing what can happen when we remember together.

Where it All Meets...

Although these parts of Alexandra's work may look different — a Yoga Sutra study, a sober women's circle, a teacher training, a meditation practice or a room full of people chanting together — they are ultimately pointing toward the same thing.

Returning to your true nature. Through bhakti, philosophy and sobriety.

Alexandra's work is an invitation to explore yoga beyond the poses: to study its philosophy, experience its devotional traditions, build practices that sustain us through real life, and create communities in which we can remember what matters.

She is currently writing her second book, exploring Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, and recording her first album of kirtan and mantra.

"You don’t have to travel to Bali to get yoga alliance certification, but if you want to or you’re already there, The Mindful Life Practice provides an amazing experience in a beautiful Villa just outside of Ubud. Alex is down to earth, humble, dedicated to her sober community, and steadfast in the continuous growth of her yoga practice. If you do a YTT or a retreat you will be supported & comfortable, your light will be nurtured, and you’ll have some time to explore Bali too."

Darlene, Virginia

"I have been practicing Yoga with Alex at The Mindful Life Practice since May of last year and I absolutely love it! Alex is the most genuine, authentic and inspiring instructor that I've ever had. After practicing with her for just a few months I decided to sign up for her Yoga Teacher Trainings and am so happy that I did. There is such a light and beautiful energy that Alex brings to her classes that I thoroughly enjoy. I highly recommend attending her classes if you are in Bali or online if you can't attend in person!"

Leanne, Cayman Islands

"I wish there were 6 stars! Alex's approach to yoga was the magic that allowed me to develop a practice that is now a daily thing. She is accommodating to all levels and encourages everyone to take what they need from their practice. Highly recommend taking a class with her if you get the opportunity! She's led me through 230 hours of YTT and also a retreat in Mexico and I'm forever grateful."
