Meet Sheyla. One of the great new faces joining us this Summer Season. Her love of travel, Sheyla and Alex met in Vietnam as the two were traveling through Southeast Asia and parted ways in Thailand after 3 weeks. Sheyla is part of Mindful Flow 1 (Summer Season) class with Alex. As we’re finishing our 5th week of the season, we would like to check with and get to know her more. Here’s her answers for the blog...
Hi Sheyla! Tell us a little bit about yourself! Who is Sheyla?
Sheyla: Hi, my name is Sheyla and I'm 24 years old. My Mum is from the Philippines and my Dad from the italian part of Switzerland. I grew up and still live in the German part of Switzerland, next to Zurich. In my free time I love traveling and when I'm at home I do poledance, swim, meet with friends and since a couple of weeks also yoga. Living in Switzerland I can also add skiing on my hobby-list. At the moment I work in a piano store. Since we are a little shop, I'm responsible for almost everything, selling, administration, bookkeeping, etc. Last September I started school to learn about marketing. All in all it takes about 3.5 years.
What inspired you to start practicing yoga?
Sheyla: Alex asked me one day if I'd like to join and I think the concept that you have (doing yoga online) convinced me to give it a try.
Have you ever had any experience with yoga before joining the MLPC?
Sheyla: I think I did it once a couple of years ago.
What’s your connection to the MLPC?
How did you end up being so committed to yoga?
Sheyla: I'm in the mindful flow 1 class and it's great to start your day.
Did you face any challenges during the month of July?
What are the biggest benefits you’ve reaped from your yoga practice?
Sheyla: So Monday is my free day and honestly it's awesome to have something to wake up for. Also, being already finished at 8.30 a.m. I have the whole day ahead of me. And it's helping me with my strength and core.
What’s your favorite posture?
Sheyla: I don't have one yet.
What’s your most difficult posture?
Sheyla: The ones where I have to balance. But it's getting better.
Any words of wisdom to those just starting out?
Sheyla: Just give it a try for a couple of weeks. Every pose is getting better/easier from week to week.
